Lean Six Sigma
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a integration of two powerful methodologies, Lean and Six Sigma.
Lean improves speed and reduces waste or non-value add. Six Sigma improves quality through reduction of defects and errors based on a robust problem solving framework of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control).
By combining the two methodologies together, the resulting integrated methodology can bring about significant improvement in quality, process speed and customer satisfaction while reducing the cost of operations.
LSS is applicable to all industrial sectors and has been implemented in many sectors including manufacturing, engineering, financial, public and other service sectors.
Lean Six Sigma is sometimes called different names in different industries but the principles, Lean Six Sigma tools and applications remain unchanged. Six Sigma is also commonly known as:
– Lean Sigma
– Lean 6 Sigma
– Sigma Lean
– Six Sigma Lean
LSS has been implemented in many different industries with great success. Some of the industries are as follows:
- Lean Six Sigma in Manufacturing
- Lean Six Sigma in Service Industry
- Lean Six Sigma in Shared Service Centres (SSC)
- Lean Six Sigma in Continuous Process Industry
- Lean Six Sigma for Research & Development (R&D)
- Lean Six Sigma in Government / Public Sector
There are many useful Lean Six Sigma tools within the Lean Six Sigma toolbox. However, for Lean Six Sigma implementation to be successful, do not focus only on the tools but instead strike a balance between two important components of Lean Six Sigma – technical tools as well as soft skills.
